Hey guys it's the holiday season so I've been trying to focus my sewing calendar around festive fabrics and patterns. When I scrolled past @classyfiedlife's IG post one day I saw that she made this beautiful gown from McCall's M8037 that I knew I just had to make. You can check her version of this pattern out here. This pattern is out of print but can be found on Etsy from many different sellers.
I decided to sew View C which gives you a cowl neckline. I wanted to wear this dress to a Christmas party so I knew I wanted it to be a bright red color. I chose this beautiful red stretch velvet fabric that can be found here. There are many different colors to choose from so I will definitely be purchasing more.
This dress was super easy to make. I had it done in one day! I didn't have to make any adjustments, but if you are short (I'm 5'4, with the heels worn I'm 5'8) I would definitely recommend trying on the shoes you want to wear with this dress and measure from your waist to the bottom of your shoe and shorten accordingly.
I cut the size 14 and it fits like a glove. This dress gave me everything I was looking for in a holiday gown. I am in love with the dramatic train in the back, and received several compliments. I will definitely make this dress again, maybe in the short sleeve version with a lighter weight fabric.
